James is a Vice President at The Townsend Group where he focuses on acquisitions and asset management for the Special Situations group. Mr. Kipling focuses on deploying Townsend’s discretionary capital across Europe through LP and GP-led secondaries, platform and entity investments, recapitalizations, programmatic joint ventures, and co-investments.

Prior to joining The Townsend Group 2021, James spent six years working in CBRE’s Corporate Finance team where he was responsible for providing financial analysis to fund and asset managers who were seeking to raise capital for existing real estate vehicles or new real estate strategies.

James earned a BA in Economics from the University of Exeter, has an MSc in Real Estate from the University of Reading, and is a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst.
