Townsend Appointed as Border to Coast Global Core and Value-Add Real Estate Fund’s Advisor

October 2023

Townsend has been appointed by Border to Coast Pensions Partnership to provide ongoing support on the implementation of a global value-add real estate fund series to provide enhanced returns above core real estate. The strategy will predominantly focus on value-add funds (including secondaries) alongside opportunistic funds. The overall strategy will focus on key markets across the U.S., Europe and the Asia-Pacific region and will consider both specialist and multi-strategy funds, with an expectation that the overall strategy will have greater emphasis on industrials, residential and alternatives. Once launched, it will seek to deliver the benefits of pooling through a centralised team at Border to Coast Pensions Partnership which can expand access to global real estate investment opportunities in a sustainable and cost-effective manner. This will be one of two global real estate propositions, the other being a lower risk, core strategy. Border to Coast Pensions Partnership is one of the U.K.’s largest local authority pension pooling schemes currently with eleven participating local authority partner funds.
