Ran Petel

Ran Petel joined The Townsend Group in January of 2007 as a Consultant in the San Francisco office. Ran specializes in direct property acquisitions and is focused on underwriting and managing co-investment opportunities for Townsend's discretionary co-investment funds, which includes both value added and opportunistic strategies.

Prior to joining Townsend, Ran was the Director of Acquisitions and Development for James Hotels where he completed $210 million of acquisitions and development projects. Prior to James Hotels, Ran worked at Forest City Ratner Companies as an Asset Manager, where he implemented methods to enhance profitability for a 6 million square foot portfolio of commercial and retail properties. Ran also has worked as a Financial Manager for Merrill Lynch where he implemented investment strategies and conducted private placements. In addition, Ran spent five years as a manager in the airline industry and served as a Captain in the Army.

Ran received an MBA from Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, a BA in Finance from Lee College at American Jewish University, and an AS in Electrical Engineering from ORT Technical College.
