Biographical Highlights
Ran S. Petel is a Principal and the Manager for Townsend Co-Investment Funds based in the San Francisco office. Townsend Co-Investment Funds are comprised of Cayuga Lake Fund and Seneca Lake Fund, which collectively represent $1 billion in Townsend-managed discretionary co-investment capital. Established in 2006, the Townsend co-investment program is a multi-strategy platform focused on both value-added and opportunistic investments across all real estate asset classes worldwide. To date, the Townsend Co-Investment Funds have invested in the U.S., China, India, Brazil as well as selective Central and Eastern European countries.
Prior to joining Townsend, Ran was the Director of Acquisitions and Development for James Hotels where he completed $210 million of acquisitions, development and repositioning projects. Ran negotiated, structured and executed transactions for hotels located in New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, Scottsdale, Miami, Paris and London. Prior to James Hotels, Ran was an Asset Manager at Forest City Ratner Companies, where he initiated and implemented strategies to enhance profitability for office and retail properties totaling over 6 million square feet. Ran also worked as an Associate and a Financial Manager for Merrill Lynch where he executed investment strategies and conducted private placements specializing in the middle market. In addition, Ran spent five years as a manager in the airline industry after serving as a Captain in the Army.
Ran received an MBA from Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, a B.A. in Finance from Lee College at American Jewish University, and an degree in Electrical Engineering from ORT Technical College.
